REIKI - A Personal Story

Just a few more hours, that’s not so bad. My stomach was bobbing and weaving like a boxer soon defeated. I wished the motion sickness would end. Are we there yet? Oh, my head.

We were on our way to the Grand Canyon. I’d never been before and my two friends invited me for my first visit on a road trip from Southern California. We were on those dreaded switchback roads in an old Toyota. I tried staring out the window at clouds and mountains. That’s what they say to do, right? It didn’t work. I was fresh out of ideas and succumbed to my fate. Torture.


Finally, one of my compadres suggested a rest stop. Hurray! We stopped moving but my symptoms were so bad, they persisted.

Sooner than I would like, we were on the road again.


Once my friends realized that I wasn’t getting any better, one of them moved to the back seat and suggested sharing Reiki with me.


I had no idea what she was talking about but I trusted her.


She laid her hands across my head, and then my solar plexus for at least ten minutes each. It was such an interesting feeling. I had done similar things to myself but the result was different. When she did it, I had a sense of calm. My head and solar plexus felt warm and over time the motion sickness symptoms subsided.


What happened?

*Reiki is Universal Energy. We all share it. When a practitioner lays their hands above or on top of our energy centers (chakras) their energy connects with ours and guides us towards more inner balance thereby creating healing.

Because of my friend’s Reiki I was able to match the frequency of the reality I wanted which was peace and balance in my belly and head. Physics.This was my first introduction to Reiki which led me on the journey of becoming a Reiki Master and Teacher.
